Thanks to all the reels and Youtube shorts I have been consuming.

I had started to feel that I couldn't carry on normal conversations with people, I needed the other person to give me all the information in 15 seconds, if not, I started to feel agitated ... as if my brain wanted all the dopamine right away. (or my mind went blank at times as if i was not there)

Over some time I figured out that I couldn't even read articles, Earlier I was really fond of reading physics articles and news about astronomy, but couldn't read anything as i felt bored and my monkey brain said "let's watch some reels instead".

I figured out this is turning me into a completely brain-rot stupid person.

I couldn't see myself become like this.

What helped me?

At first I started with movies, I certainly feel they are much better than any short form content as they build characters and you flow with the story, you are made to think about the storyline.

Then i moved to books, Over the past 3-4 months, I have been reading a lot of things. Whenever you read, it is upto you at what speed you want to read, You decide the pace at which your brain is capable of processing the information.

At first I had to force myself to read, as my brain constantly wanted cheap and short dopamine, but over a month of reading and forcing myself, things improved.

and in this 2025, I urge each one of you to resort to more books, Not just self help books, but read fiction.

Read the best of the works ever know to the literature world, Build your brain.

Read the best philosophers, Read fiction, Read whatever you want to read (Although i would advice to stay AWAY from self help books, as it is just basic advice strechted upon).

Start with short books, Under 150 pages. Build a habit from there.

Finishing a book is the biggest dopamine hit in itself + the story stays with you.

Stop being fed into the Propaganda of  these social media companies  that is being shoved down your throat. Take your life by the throat and win.

Work on your career, Spend time with your family, Build relationships, and Start to read.

Pro-Tip - If you live in any of the major cities, Get a Library membership. In Delhi, there is "Delhi Public Library" managed by the goverment. It costs 100 Rs / year to get a library pass and you can issue almost all books from there. There are multiple branches all over Delhi (https://delhipubliclibrary.in). I am pretty sure other states would have it too, you just need to enquire a little. (This will help you save a lot of money on books).

Make yourself proud. You only live once.

Whenever you feel stuck with getting new ideas, Always go out for a long walk.

Best is to go alone because that gives you time to think, if you go out with someone else you would just be talking about other things rather than introspecting in yourself.

Pick an area around your locality which is free of continuous traffic (free of clutter), or else go out early morning.

Watching the sunrise (or sunset) while you walk towards your goal is a great feeling.

Just observe your surroundings: trees, sky, kids playing, birds flying .... Let the nature come to you. Just continue your walk and things will fall in place.

The last website I built that is getting around 100k PV per month, I got the growth ideas on long walks as well, Same with the previous website of mine that was getting 5M PV per month at its peak.

Long walks will give you some of the best ideas and teach you the importance of patience and persistence.

Most things are simple, but we are lazy to follow the process and be disciplined.

Just keep walking in life, Show up everyday and see for yourself.

Ever since I started my blogging journey and started making websites I always used Google analytics as my go to analytics software for measuring user growth. Now that Google has switched to Google Analytics 4 and stopped supporting the Universal version, It became a lot harder to move around with the data.

They stopped giving you the real-time users present on your website. Instead it started giving you the total number of users that visited in the last 30 minutes.

In my opinion, I think that the interface became a lot slower than it used to be. if I reload the home page, It took around 20 to 30 seconds to fully load and to be able to show me the exact data.

Every thing just got so complicated that it was no longer an easy to use software for me.

I do not want all this mumbo jumbo, I just was simple metrics to look at and make my decisions based on them. I just felt that now analytics is hard to navigate and it’s code is also heavy.

I also noticed that there were a lot of data gaps in between the reporting, A lot of the times data was missing and the reporting became slower, It took hours before the data was available for me to see.

This is where I realised that I need to make a change.

and I found PLAUSIBLE.

It is actually an open source and lightweight analytics  software that you can self host on your server. The code that you put on your website is also less than 1 KB in size.

It has been one week since I started using plausible and I have to say that my experience has been phenomenal.

Currently, I am hosting 5 sites on Plausible to measure their metrics:

I absolutely love the user interface. I absolutely love the speed. and I love the real time reporting that i was missing on Google Analytics.

Here's how I setup my own (Some technical background required):

• I bought a Cloud sever with the following configration (4GB RAM, 3 Core CPU, 80GB SSD). It costed me around 7.62$/month. (You can also use a smaller config cloud as well)
  
  PS. I am also hosting this blog (shukrant.com) on this server as well.

• I installed ubuntu on it and followed the documentation provided by Plausible to further complete the installation. It uses docker to get Plausible live and uses Nginx to reverse proxy it to your domain (any domain/sub domain you own).
• You would need to debug on your own in case you get errors during the installation (Google is your friend).
• After you get plausible live on your domain, You can install as many sites you want (or as many as your server can handle). It all depends on how much traffic you're getting.

Here are the things i absolutely loved about plausibel (Coming from Google analytics)

• Their Dark theme is amazing, the dashboard just feels very pleasing to look at.

• Real time user reporting is amazing, low-key this is what i look at the most through out the day to analyse the trends.

• You can import all your data from Google analytics to Plausible using Google's API, Here's a how to guide. Similarly, you can connect Search console to Plausible and it will show search terms your site is getting searched for in the dashboard itself.
• It also has a feature to give reports straight to your email.(Weeky/Monthly/Notification on traffic spikes)
• It provides all the data in a single page, No mumbo jumbo, just straight to the point. That's how i like it.
• You control your data, You have it stored under a server you pay for and control.
• and a lot more features, i would recommend you get your hands on it yourself.

I am damn sure if you're reading this, you are going to love this. Definately recommend from my side.

I will be sticking to Plausible for a while now, not going back.

I was actually researching different niches to make a new website, and I found this one. In the near future, I'm most probably going to make a website in this niche and run it as a case study.

After seeing the traffic, you might be wondering that it's not even that much, but this much traffic from tier 1 countries can make you really RICH. Never underestimate anything before trying it.

Here's a look at their traffic from the last 3 months.

The users are pretty stable and there's a generic increase of around 4% when compared month on month.

The domain was registered in 2017 according to WHOIS data, which means that it has the potential to be done with a long-term vision.

All this was just to establish that there's scope in this particular niche. Now let's decipher their strategy.

The only thing I'm worried about from this niche is good engagement (look at their bounce rate), but this is estimated data as we do not have access to their analytical dashboard but I'd assume if these many people are searching for this topic, It has to get a good amount of engagement. At least good enough to monetize it well.

How much money can you make with this website though? If I were to calculate a minimal estimate, this is how I'd do it.

• Pageviews = 400,000
• CTR = 2% (Taking on the lower side because it's a content website)
• Average CPC Considering demographic: $0.3

Estimated Earnings = Pageviews x CTR x CPC = 400k x 2% x $0.1 = $2400

If you put tech-like ezoic on top of this, you can easily double this amount, but for the sake of it, we are estimating the lower end.

The cost of running a website like this is peanuts compared to what you'll make (as it's a content website). So, it's pure margins.

How I would automate it?

In this section I'll vaguely define the strategy I would have personally used to automate this website from scratch. I will write another detailed post on the technicalities of it, But for now, I'll let you know the steps.

First of all, I'll try to figure out the total number of posts present on the website to get an idea of what we are playing with.

This is the page where all the pages are listed for this website, by checking the source code, I can see there are around 900 posts on this one.

I would write a script to get all the URLs to these pages and store them in a CSV file.

Now I'd go to multiple post pages of this website and look if the structure in different posts is similar to each other or not. If the structure is similar, then the site can be automated. After going through dozen of pages, I can say with confidence that this site can be automated.

This is the basic structure of every page:

• Address and Contact: Logo, Address, Phone, Fax, Email, No. of employees, Established, Founder, Key People.
• Location & Directions: Google maps embed.
• Executive team: Name & Title.
• History & Info: Description based.
• Photos
• Social Media handles.

Now that I know the basic structure of these pages, I would write a script to read URLs from the CSV we created earlier and scrape all these data points from the pages. This data will be stored in a different CSV file.

Now we have all the data from this website, Similarly, we can scrape multiple websites in this niche to make the biggest database and outcompete the competition.

Once we have all the data, We can mold and restructure it accordingly.

My target would be to create the most visually appealing website out there because all the sites in this niche are going to have mostly the same data.

We can exactly use most of the data points that we have collected, except "Description", because that is not structured and you may receive a DMCA strike for copying bluntly which may affect your rankings.

To solve this problem, You can use AI writing tools like Jarvis.ai, Wordhero etc. to generate unique descriptions for each company. These tools generally don't have an API, so you might consider hiring people and getting these descriptions ready in bulk.

With this step, we would have all the data and we can now move on to publishing this data on our website.

Setup a new domain and Install WordPress on it.  Typically I would use a basic theme with Elementor & Elementor Pro to design a custom look all by myself (It might be intimidating at first but it's really efficient "no-code" way of designing a new look)  

To insert all these data points that we have collected, I would use a plugin named Advanced custom field known as ACF, and make individual data columns for each.

Now I'd use REST API by WordPress to publish all these posts in bulk. The programming language that I mostly use is Python and it's been working quite well for me.

Then I would deploy a script to run daily that would lookout for new posts that are published on various websites around the same niche, if those are not published, The script would scrape the data and publish it on our own website. This creates consistency.

The steps are really simple, but when you're new to all this, it can be like some otherworldly things to you, but once you get the momentum it gets real easy real quick. So much so that I can easily finish this website from scratch in just one day.

Today, we'll be deciphering the strategies followed by this amazing console gaming website that I stumbled across yesterday, and how you can build one for yourself too (If you want to).

First of all, let's look at their last 3 months' traffic:

As you can see, the site is very stable and is constantly hitting 7M+ users each month. Numbers are great, so is their strategy.

As per WHOIS records, the domain was registered on 7th November 2020, which is not very old in my experience considering the traffic they're banking. So what's the differentiator here?

Let's start off with how they're doing at off-page, Look at the exponential growth of their referring domains:

The number of RD's they acquired in the initial days of setting up the domain seems to be an important factor, as the time went on, the growth has slowed down but I think the momentum from the past is still there. Keeping that in mind, most of the domains pointing to this website are pretty relevant to the niche, which is a very good indicator to get good rankings.

The website is divided into 2 main parts:

• ROMS: Offering more than 58,000 ROMs for almost all consoles such as Nintendo DS, Gameboy Advance, PSP & so much more.
• EMULATORS: It has around 330 emulators listed, not big of a number as ROMs but the traffic falling to these pages is good enough considering this ratio.

The site is designed and structured really well too, It's been built using modern-day backend & frontend using NODE & Express (Frameworks for javascript)

Although this is not the exact data, we can still make some rough guesses and the first guess I would make is that the users are REALLY engaging with the contents of it.

With a bounce rate this low and pages per visit this high, it can be clearly seen that users are getting what they're searching for as most of their traffic share is organic.

But is this traffic really valuable to make money?

There's one very simple rule to follow, "When you have a lot of people coming to the same place, you can monetize it. No matter what it is." and these guys are getting it from the US & other tier 1 countries is even better. There are a few Tier 3 countries too, but they're not the majority so we would not count them as most of the revenue would be made up from the creamy layer.

What would be the best way to monetize a website like this?

The best way is to go with Adsense or some premium ADx companies, with native advertising on top. Some sponsored things here and there but the major chunk would be advertising.

It's a download-type website, where a user will come specifically to get a piece of software or a game, which makes it highly targeted towards them. They will eventually visit multiple pages on this site, as sites like this usually redirect the download links to a separate page to increase page views and increase their revenue.

With more than 7M users and half of these users completing the download:

• Pageviews = 7,000,000+3,500,000 = 10.5M
• CTR = 3% (Taking very genric here, but it's quite on the higher side on these download websites)
• Average CPC Considering demographic: $0.1

Estimated Earnings = Pageviews x CTR x CPC = 10.5M x 3% x $0.1 = $31,500

That's a lot of money considering the cost of running a website like this is peanuts compared to revenue. You just need a couple of dedicated servers, for your normal website and your download server & a couple of people on the staff.

It's a very profitable business.
